They bring a challenge: a complex geometry, a difficult material, a demanding tolerance, or a tight deadline. At Grupo IAM we have been turning those challenges into real parts for more than four decades. In this article, we explain our precision machining process from the moment we receive the assignment until the part leaves our facilities in Bergara ready for use.

1. Receiving the Blueprint and Technical Analysis

It all starts with the client’s blueprint or sample. Our technical team analyzes the geometry, material, required tolerances, and necessary surface finish. In this phase, we decide which technology or combination of technologies is most suitable: Wire EDM, Die-sinking EDM, Waterjet Cutting, Laser Cutting, Micro Cutting, or a combination of several.

In some cases, such as in reverse engineering projects, there is no blueprint available. The IAM team can start from a physical sample and generate the necessary technical documentation through 3D measurement.

2. Material Selection and Preparation

If the material is provided by the client, we verify that it meets the blueprint specifications. If we supply it, we select the appropriate material and prepare it for the process: cutting to size, preliminary roughing if necessary, or heat treatment if the part requires a specific state before precision machining.

3. Dimensional Control and Verification

Once precision machining is complete, each part goes through our quality department.
